Vulnerability & The Medicine of Heartbreak

Perhaps you can relate ❤️‍🩹

The songs on my mini album "The Medicine of Heartbreak" are personal, vulnerable, and speak of pain and sensuality.  I've been holding these songs inside for almost 10 years because the lyrics are tender, raw, and share insight into my private life that is- you guessed it- vulnerable.

Yet, emotions and heartbreak are human qualities, and in a world in which we are increasingly distant and divided, choosing vulnerability feels like one of the most courageous ways we can create connection and remember our shared humanity.

"In a world in which we are increasingly distant and divided... vulnerability is how we can create connection."

Journal Prompts for Vulnerability

Give yourself the gift of your own time and valuable attention. Either grab your journal and a writing utensil or simply sit and mentally contemplate the following:

1. Explore a personal experience where being vulnerable- admitting a mistake, sharing a fear, or asking for help- strengthened a relationship or brought a positive outcome.

  • How did this shift your perspective from viewing it as a weakness?

2. Reflect on situations where you shut down or created walls to protect yourself from feeling vulnerable.

  • What fears (e.g., rejection, judgment) trigger this behavior, and what is the cost of not being authentic in those moments?

Vulnerability cultivates emotional safety, contributing to mental health, rendering it priceless 🤍
